Startup “BEGAK” from Skolkovo has developed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of vertical take-off and landing. The device is capable of flying for up to 12 hours at an altitude of up to eight thousand meters.

Alexander Begak, general designer and managing director of BEGAK, told the press service of the National Technical Initiative that the drone’s take-off weight is 75 kilograms, of which 20 is a possible payload. The flight time of the device, which is currently equipped with electric motors, is about two hours, that is, about 350 kilometers. In the hybrid version, which is expected to arrive in the summer (with an internal combustion engine to be added), the flight time will be up to 12 hours.

Begak emphasized that a UAV with non-classical aerodynamic design can take off from any place unprepared for these purposes, even from the deck of a ship. The developer calls the main task of the drone to work as a communication signal repeater. Begalet-Mirage is also planned to be used to monitor forest fires and gas pipelines.
