Dimensity 8050: Meet MediaTek’s new octa-core chip

This Tuesday (9), Taiwanese company MediaTek announces new Dimensity 8050 processor — but not as modern as other models of the brand. The chip is almost identical to the Dimensity 1300 and 1200 processors, but the biggest difference is its structure, manufactured in TSMC’s 6 nm class N6 process.

According to MediaTek’s official site, In addition to the nine-core Arm Mali-G77 GPU, the chip features an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A78 cores for speed and four Cortex-A55 cores for efficiency. Specifications also include ultra-fast quad-channel memory, Support up to 16GB LPDDR4x RAM memory and dual-channel UFS 3.1 storage.

Therefore, the new processor will be able to offer users the opportunity to play today’s main games with fast and reliable FPS.

Camera and display features

Regarding camera capabilities, the chip’s Image Signal Processors (ISP) allow Takes up to 200 MP photos and is 20% faster at night. It also offers AI Super Panorama, which combines the capture of multiple shots to produce panoramic images. Video capture delivers 4K HDR quality with 40% more dynamic range.

Smartphone manufacturers who prefer the chip will be able to equip their smartphones with displays that offer Full HD + quality with a refresh rate of up to 168 Hz or QHD + resolution up to 90 Hz.

The chip’s 5G modem is designed to support higher speeds and greater range with 2CC-CA (200MHz) technology and mixed duplex FDD+TDD — 30% more signal coverage. The Dimensity 8050 also supports dual 5G SIM (SA+SA).
