Air New Zealand has finally revealed the approximate cost of booking one of its economy sleeper pods on a long-haul flight: NZ$400-600 ($250-$380) plus the cost of your seat.

Passengers will only be allowed one capsule session per flight, so you will have to stay on the bus for the rest of the time.

The operator introduced Skynest capsules in 2022.but until this week he kept silent about the cost.

Considered the first of its kind for low-cost passengers, the capsules will be installed on an Air New Zealand Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for flights to New York and Chicago from September 2024.

Each pod will be part of a six pod area and will include a full-size pillow, sheets and blanket, earplugs, a reading light, a USB port, an air vent and lighting designed to help the passenger relax.

The capsules will also be equipped with seat belts to keep passengers safe if any turbulence occurs during the flight.

Air New Zealand said bedding will be changed between each booking, and at the end of each capsule session, the lights will fade out to help you wake up. But if you’re still sound asleep after the allotted time, a crew member will “politely” wake you up, the airline said.

“With our ultra-long haul routes to destinations such as New York and Chicago, Skynest offers our passengers a unique and innovative way to relax and rejuvenate, making their journey with us even more enjoyable,” Air New Zealand said in a statement. . “By launching Skynest on these routes, we are living out our commitment to providing choice as well as the best possible experience for our passengers, while also continuing to innovate and lead the aviation industry.”
