Telegram complied with the decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and Deleted message attacking Bill 2630/2020, popularly referred to as Fake News PL. The decision was made this Wednesday (10), hours after a post from Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

Yesterday afternoon (09), the leaders of the app surprised everyone by sending a post that said “Democracy in Brazil is under attack” to all Brazilians who have an account on the service. The text also said the bill “could end freedom of expression”.

If Telegram didn’t comply with the order to delete the message, the company would be suspended nationwide for 72 hours. Additionally, Minister Alexandre de Moraes has even set a fine of BRL 500,000 per hour even when the app is already offline.
