After enabling this feature, Gmail users will be able to scan the dark web for email addresses and receive recommendations from Google to protect their data. These may include suggestions such as enabling 2-step verification.

In addition, Google will regularly notify Gmail users that their emails are linked to any data breach on the underground cybercrime forums.

The dark web tracking feature was first made available to members of the Google One program in the US in March 2023. With its help, users can receive notifications that their personal information has been discovered on the dark web.
