WhatsApp has partnered with leading online payment company Stripe to launch the platform. The entire payment process takes place within WhatsApp. Payment confirmation happens almost instantly.
Customers can pay for purchases with major credit and debit cards such as Visa and MasterCard.
WhatsApp Pay will initially be available to a select number of merchants in Singapore.
Previously, WhatsApp developers “released” an update for the iOS version of the messenger. The functionality that was previously available to beta testers is now available to all users.
