Twitter leaker @kopite7kimi has power caps on Nvidia’s upcoming Lovelace GPU chips shared† The top model AD102, which will probably be used for the GeForce RTX 4090 (Ti), has an 800 watt limit.
The step below is the AD103 (RTX 4080) which is 450 watts and much lower. The mobile version (for laptops) goes up to 175 watts. It also mentions the AD104 (RTX 4060/4070) capped at 400 watts (175W mobile) and the AD106 (RTX 4050) which will consume up to 260 watts (140W mobile).
This is about maximum power limits, @kopite7kimi never waits for the cards to reach the limit. Still, it gives some idea of what we can expect.
Over the past few months we’ve seen a lot of rumors about the alleged power consumption of Nvidia’s RTX 4000 series. A consumption of 850 watts was mentioned at the end of February, while in March it was ‘only’ 600 watts. Earlier this month, @kopite7kimi leaked that the RTX 4080 will consume 420 watts, 30 watts below that limit.
