Many people face professional burnout. It manifests itself as constant fatigue, irritation, lack of interest in work, a feeling of meaninglessness. Alena Manokhina, an expert in human resources and the labor market, a business psychologist, HRBP from the Service HR consultancy, told RB.RU how to cope with this condition and whether “weekly” vacations help.

A business psychologist told how to deal with burnout at work

According to the specialist, it is important to start working with burnout as soon as the first symptoms appear, since in the case of a “neglected” state, much more time and money will have to be spent on the fight.

The most important thing in your job is to try to switch from multitasking mode, take a couple of tasks and do them efficiently. This allows you to keep energy at the right level and get satisfaction from the process.

The second is to leave work at work: when you come home or chat with friends, do not talk about work moments.

The specialist also recommended the practice of sports, since physical activity is an excellent way not only to get the body in shape, but also the mental state. Then the mind will focus on sensations and not on work problems, Manokhina noted.

When you’re burned out at work, it’s also worth practicing a digital detox: at least 30 minutes a day without devices, communications, and communications. Ideally a couple of days.

And, of course, the best way to recover is a healthy sleep, ideally eight hours. Alena Manokhina advised to observe sleep hygiene and go to bed before 23:00, preferably in a room without light and noise.

Start your career as a human resources manager from scratch – compare the best training programs and read the reviews in the catalog of human resources courses.

The psychologist doubts that short vacations help to cope with exhaustion. At the end of the “weekly” break, a person can let go of the working atmosphere. And then, provided that professional duties do not catch up with him in the mail and instant messengers on the phone. And now a new stress awaits her: a return to work, where during the week that she was absent, questions have accumulated that require her participation. Therefore, after a week of vacation, a person works twice as much: he solves the accumulated cases, and in parallel – new tasks.

Alena Manokhina recommends planning several weeks of uninterrupted rest every year. At this time, it is advisable to transfer your work responsibilities to colleagues, so that when you return you do not have to spend the night at work, trying to make up for the time lost during the break.

An expert on the labor market and HR emphasized that if a long and eventful vacation is coming to an end, and there is no strength or desire to return to the working day, it is worth thinking about the real reasons for this state of affairs. Perhaps you do not need to rest, but change jobs.
