The volume of purchases by Russians in markets using the Quick Payment System (SBP) has increased fivefold, the Russian Standard Bank reported. MTS Bank noticed the same trend and calculated that in the first quarter of this year, Russians started using SBP ten times more often.
The number and amount of purchases by Russians on the markets through the PBS in the first quarter of 2023 increased fivefold compared to the same period last year. This is stated in a press release from the Russian Standard Bank.
The average check for a purchase through SBP on the markets during the analyzed period increased from 1,361 rubles to 1,382 rubles.
A year earlier, 93% of the purchases in terms of number of payments and 95% in terms of their amount were made with the classic option of payment by bank card. In the first quarter of 2023, these figures have changed: 71% and 74%, respectively.
MTS-Bank also noted a trend towards an increase in the popularity of SBP among Russians. According to the bank, with the closure of the Apple Pay and Google Pay services, the system began to be used ten times more and the turnover of money increased 6.5 times. At the same time, the average purchase amount fell from 3,260 rubles to 2,170 rubles.
