Russian companies will be able to legally continue to use foreign software by transferring money to a special account. Part of the funds will go to finance preferential IT loans for developers.
Such a measure is provided for in the updated version of the draft law on compulsory licenses of foreign software, which is being developed by the Ministry of Digital Development, sources told Vedomosti.
Licenses will be paid at the same rates until the companies leave Russia for special accounts type O. If the copyright holder does not claim the amount remaining in the account, then the money will be transferred to the industry support fund TI, pointed out one of the interlocutors of the publication.
According to a source from an IT company, these funds may be allocated to import substitution projects within the industrial centers of competence and competence centers for the development of Russian applied and system-wide software, which Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin ordered. create in june 2022.
