Too much cholesterol makes a person more likely to have a stroke and heart attack. One of the causes of high cholesterol levels is a diet high in saturated fat.

Mays Al-Ali, a registered dietitian and founder of the Healthy Mays clinic, recommended eating dates to lower cholesterol. One study found that the fiber in this product lowered total cholesterol levels.

It is also known that persimmon is rich in beta-carotene, magnesium, calcium, iron, sodium. All are good for health.

The results of the study cited by the expert were published in 2012 in the Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism.
