This is done by two divisions of the company. The first is Samsung Electro-Mechanical. It creates solid-state batteries for mobile devices and wearables. The second – Samsung SDI – is working on the creation of such batteries for electric vehicles.
Solid state batteries are a new generation technology that can store more energy in the same space as conventional batteries. Also, the battery life is noticeably longer.
According to rumors, Samsung SDI will start pilot production in the current quarter. Last year, the division has already demonstrated a prototype development.
In the case of electric vehicles, such a battery will reportedly allow you to travel up to 800 km without recharging and withstand up to 1000 recharge cycles.
