The State Duma approved in first reading a bill on the introduction of fines for the transfer of personal information through foreign couriers. Officials will be fined from 30 to 50 thousand rubles, legal entities – from 100 to 700 thousand rubles.
Deputies of the State Duma supported the bill on fines for the transfer of personal data through foreign couriers at first reading. The document is published in the Legislative Support System.
“Pass the bill at first reading, submit amendments to the bill,” the explanatory note says.
According to the bill, for sending legally significant data via foreign couriers, officials will be fined from 30 to 50 thousand rubles, legal entities – from 100 to 700 thousand rubles.
The list of foreign messengers includes Telegram, WhatsApp*, Viber, WeChat, Snapchat, Discord, Threema, Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business.
A bill on fines for sending personal data via foreign couriers was submitted to the State Duma on April 14.
In March, several organizations were legally prohibited from using foreign instant messaging. This applies to banks, brokers, non-state pension funds and insurers.
