I watched the movie “Megalodon” at the cinema. They took it off, but I’m ashamed

The film “Megalodon” has officially been released in Russia.

We, as fans of the famous “Jaws”, managed to go to the novelty and share our disappointing impressions. Spoiler: don’t watch.

Everything is bad here. From start to finish

The plot for such a movie is as railway and obvious as possible.

What is the movie about: the protagonist along with landing in the mass consciousness on the Mexican coast, where an extremely high shark is unexpectedly discovered. But for the inhabitants, this is not just a sea monster, but a real demon who came to visit people for an accident against wildlife.

The hero is forced to solve the problem with his own hands, simultaneously arresting his family.

Our carriers are well developed, so that you can’t drag it into the cinema hall with the convenience of calling the Black Demon. Another thing pathetic “Megalodon”. Great extinct white shark, storm of the ocean, lover of human flesh (in modern films). Sounds interesting for fans of the genre!

But, unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, the problem in this fact is different – the main character here is a man, not a monster from the depths. Moreover, a specific human male. You might think this is a good move. The director will gradually reveal the main character, the viewer will be more worried about him in a fight with a giant shark, and an unexpected fate makes the story very dramatic.

But, unfortunately, our expectations from the film are our problems.

The first minutes really work. We are unexpectedly introduced to the family of the main head, explaining the purpose of their travels to the hostile Mexican coast. All this is reminiscent of the beginning of some regular part of the Wrong Turn, when the main interests are not rejoiced, and in natural conditions something is known, but nothing will be told yet. The director does a good job of creating tension and intrigue without even showing the shark.

The behavior of phenomena looks logical, reasonable actions, and the action is perceived as an unpleasant and rapidly developing event.

But everything collapses at the moment when the heroes reach point of view X. That is, when the character finds himself in a death trap on a sinking oil rig. Here words, actions, adequacy of heroes sink to the deep bottom and no longer reach the very end credits.

Judge for yourself, the main character is rude to those around him and to the left to unfamiliar people, not worrying that you can rake well from unfriendly Mexicans. His wife looked unsupervised by children, not worrying that the shark was very close. It turned out that one day and I know what the sea monster is doing, they absolutely calmly climb into the water on demand.

In addition, the operator cannot come up with any interesting camera spans or memorable angles, and instead practice using a wide spectrum in the lens.

It was found that the detection of the fisheye effect would add some drama and tension to the characters’ dialogues. But, in fact, it looks very comical, and this is sad. After all, with the exception of endless skirmishes, reasoning and nostalgic stories about the monster of the ocean from the viewer, nothing else is an accent. Absolutely nothing.

In total, we will see the shark for about 2 minutes of screen time! In muddy, dirty water, poorly rendered and not particularly intimidating.

One gets the feeling that in the Megalodon there is a battery with some kind of observation just so that we do not fall asleep in the cinema. We see no other explanation for showing this hack.

Graphics are terrible, no visuals

“Jaws” appeared back in 1975, that is, 48 ​​years ago (!), And the shark there looks many times better, more convincing and scarier! In Spielberg’s film, the shark was first introduced around the 40th minute of the film, but that doesn’t stop it from scaring the hell out of viewers until then.

Here the shark does not scare, and we absolutely do not care about the main character.

In Megalodon, the director offers to experience an inadequate, unbalanced, and, as it turns out later, a materialistic character who became our victim. So only sharks and feed.

We are waiting for absolutely ridiculous fate, in connection with which the last hints of the adequacy of the protagonist are crumbling. If in the 90-minute film he was indignant and shouted at everyone who was the commander-in-chief not about the shark, but about the evil demon, the first ones punished people for the atrocities, then in the last 10 minutes of the picture, which appears that the demon came just for him, and pay for accounts for him

The final scene of the movie looks like this bluntthat even the child had questions about the logic of the act of all the manifesting faces.

It is curious that this is taken away by the authors are still growing, to remind the viewer of the evil oil corporations, whose action leads to devastating consequences. But it’s all very clumsy.

Rubbish don’t watch

Everything about this movie is bad.

Weak plot, terrible acting, utterly stupid denouement. Why shoot such films in 2023 is absolutely incomprehensible, since such a “Megalodon” is now ashamed to be shown even on TV-3.
