In the issue on the YouTube channel “Good choice!” the presenter tested three budget processors of different generations in games. These are Intel i7-4770, i3-10100 and i3-12100F. Currently, they cost pretty much the same, especially on Avito.

A total of two rounds were tested. The first looked at performance with a GTX 1660 at 1080p. In the second round, the much more powerful RTX 4070 Ti took place in 12 GB assemblies and the games were launched with overclocking. With the i7-4770, the RAM was 2×8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz, with the i3-10100 – 2×8 GB DDR4 2600 MHz, with the i3-12100F – 2×8 GB DDR4 3200 MHz.

In almost all games in the first round, the processors behaved pretty much the same. The difference was only noticeable in CS:GO (low preset; at 12100F the framerate during gameplay did not drop below 300fps, the i7-4770 behaved slightly worse – about 300fps on average, i3- in between) 10100 s approx. 280-290 fps), Cyberpunk 2077 (medium preset; 12100F is the highest – has about 60fps, i3-10100 is slightly behind with 50-55 fps, i7-4770 is last with 30-40 fps; in all three cases indoor FPS was over 70fps, but noticeable lags occurred on i7-4770), Spider-Man (medium preset; 12100F – 60 to 75 fps, 4770 – 43 to 60 fps, for 10100 – 58 to 65 fps).

In modern games at 1080p with the GTX 1660, the i7-4770 outperforms the i5-4670, but experienced noticeable drops in framerate. The hardest thing for this processor was Cyberpunk. If we talk about the difference between the 12100F and the 10100, the 12100F is more powerful, but it will be difficult to notice the difference, especially with the GTX 1660 graphics card.

Next, about the results of the tests with the RTX 4070 Ti.

In the highest preset Odyssey, the 12100F immediately stands out from the rest. The average frame rate is 20-30 frames higher (10100 and 4770 performed around 60fps).

The 4770 hasn’t changed much in CS:GO with very low presets. Likewise, the minimum frame rate was around 180fps, the maximum was over 300. The 10100 had better drawbacks and on average its performance was 220-260 fps. At the same time, the 12100F produces about 400fps with drops of up to 360fps.

In Cyberpunk 2077, indoor processors are on the rise. 4770 50 – 60 fps, 10100 60 – 70 fps, 12100F 70 – 80 fps. The same trend continues in the game on the street.

Far Cry 5 was running at maximum graphics settings. In this game, the 4770 and 10100 average less than 100fps, while the 12100F easily reaches 120-130fps.

Spider-Man uses rays at very high settings. Therefore, the dependency on the graphics card increases in this game. Still, performance was 28-30fps on the 4770, 30-40fps on the 10100, and 50-60fps on the 12100.

The i7-4770 processor performs very well in all games. In any case, it behaves much more stable than the same generation i5 or i3. But the presenter does not recommend buying now: they ask a lot for it, besides, the motherboard for it is also not cheap. This upgrade option is suitable if you already have a Pentium or i3. It’s easier to get the 10100, which can then be changed to i5 or i7. It would be even better to buy 12100 but it will be even more expensive than the previous ones. In addition, it will be difficult for you to notice the difference between 1660, 2060 and 3050 graphics cards and 10100 in terms of performance.
