Are Technica announces that an iRecorder Screen Recorder app for Android will be released to covertly record sound.

In 2021, the application only appeared, but a year later, in August 2022, a big update was released for it. Among the changeable changes to the audio recording feature was 15 minutes.

These records are then sent via an encrypted link to the developer’s server. All this is documented in the blog post by Essential Security Against Evolving Threats (ESET) researcher Lukas Stefanko.

A virus code based on AhMyth Android RAT (Trojan with correct source code) has been added to the program. When it became known, Google removed the application from the Play Market, but by the time it had already been downloaded by 50,000 users. [The Verge]
