The lawsuit, led by Arizona Attorney General Chris Mayes, covers 47 states, excluding Alaska and South Dakota, and the District of Columbia. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, is against Avid Telecom, CEO Michael Lansky and Vice President of Operations and Sales Stacey Reeves.

Avid Telecom has been accused of using fake or invalid subscriber identification numbers, including impersonating government agencies and private companies. The lawsuit seeks a jury trial, a permanent measure to stop illegal auto searches, and financial penalties, including compensation to affected residents.
