Unlike other WhatsApp features, the introduction of passkeys did not require an official announcement. The company published short video on your X (Twitter) account to inform its users that it is now available.

At the time of writing Passkeys for WhatsApp are not included in the latest version client for Android (2.23.20.76). It is unknown whether the company will release the update on Google Play or enable the feature through the server, as is the case with other meta applications.

How to set up passwords on WhatsApp

Setting up passkeys on WhatsApp is a simple process, but you need to first activate them from your Google account. To get it, you need to go to this link, click the blue “Get Access Keys” button and follow the instructions on the screen. Once completed, simply open WhatsApp on your Android device.
