Apple has stopped offering one of the cheapest subscription plans for Apple Music. AppleVoicewhich, from 2021, allowed users to use the music streaming service using commands via Siri at a price of 4.99 euros per month.
The company has removed all traces of the Apple Music Voice plan from its website and confirmed termination of plan via their support page. Thus, users can now only choose between a monthly subscription for 10.99 euros per month. Or, if you prefer, a student version for 5.99 euros. A family version is also supported for €16.99 per month and with the ability to add up to six users.
Until now, we repeat, among these plans there was an even cheaper one that allowed access to millions of songs on Apple Music, but in a slightly more limited way. Apple Music Voice essentially prevented the user from manually selecting songs from a playlist or album.
These actions needed to be carried out via Siri, ask your assistant, for example, to play Taylor Swift’s latest album. The voice plan was also only available in a limited number of countries, including Austria, Australia, Canada, Mainland China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, USA, Taiwan and the UK.
What about Apple Music Voice users?
Apple’s justification for discontinuing Apple Music Voice is that its goal is to focus onin providing the best and most reliable music experience” for its customers. This is achieved “through features like immersive spatial audio, Apple Music Sing with real-time lyrics, intuitive exploration and discovery features, and more,” the company details on its website.
However, What will happen to those subscribers who had Apple Music Voice? The Cupertino firm emphasizes that it will deactivate automatic subscriptions for existing plans. Therefore, those with this contract plan will no longer have access to Apple Music at the end of the billing period. If they wish, they can change their subscription to one of the available plans by paying the cost of each.
Apple, yes hasn’t changed prices for any of the current Apple Music plans.. The company has done the same with its other services, such as Apple TV+, which now costs €9.99 per month instead of €6.99. Apple Arcade has also increased in price and now costs €6.99 per month, up from the €4.99 it previously cost. On the other hand, the company has also increased the prices of the family plan.
