Google steps on the gas pedal Twins, artificial intelligence of the latest generation. Although this technology was announced just last week, the company doesn’t want to waste any time and is determined to get more and more users using it. To speed up their expansion, they rely on one of their most commonly used products: Android.

Google just announced that Starting today, developers can integrate Gemini into their applications.. Companies, for their part, can also take advantage of this in their work processes. To do this, they released the Gemini API, a set of tools that are already available through Google AI Studio and Google Cloud Vertex AI.

It is important to note that at this time the API only offers access to solutions Gemini Pro. That is, an offer that is processed on Google’s servers and not on the user’s device.

This way, developers can create applications that offer e.g. text generation functions. We must remember that Gemini is a multimodal language model. That is, it can generate content based on the user’s request, as well as interpret existing content – both text and images.

Obviously, since the processing takes place in Google data centers, Gemini Pro integration is not always free. To avoid verification, the API should not exceed 60 requests per minute.

If the app requires more, the developers will have to pay based on the requests made. Prices below:

Data input:

$0.00025 for every 1000 characters entered.
$0.0025 per image entered.

Data output:

$0.0005 per 1000 characters of output.

“In the version available today, Gemini Pro accepts text as input and generates text as output. We have also made available the Gemini Pro Vision multimodal terminal, which accepts text and images as input and text as output.”

Google.

The important point is that at the moment it is not possible to take advantage of the payment offer. Therefore, developers are limited to using the free plan. Of course, this is a temporary measure while the community learns to use the API and conducts its first tests. 60 requests per minute is more than enough for experiments.

As of this writing, Gemini Pro supports 38 languages. Consequently, it can meet the needs of developers and users in more than 180 countries.

Google is betting on Gemini

Without a doubt Gemini has become a priority for Google. Advances by competitors, especially OpenIA, which works closely with Microsoft, have forced Mountain View to redouble its artificial intelligence efforts.

With the launch of the API for integrating Gemini Pro into third-party applications, a world of possibilities opens up, the limit of which will be the creativity of the developers themselves. And be careful, this is just Google’s first step. After Android Google Chrome and Firebase will be next to adopt Gemini.

Google also plans to launch next year Gemini Ultra, a larger model capable of even more complex tasks. Of course, they must first ensure that the existing offerings, both Gemini Nano and Gemini Pro, meet the requirements of users, companies and developers. In fact, they note that community comments will be key to further improving their technology.
