Foldable cell phones are the next great consolidation process that the cell phone industry must undertake, and that is why in CES 2024 The folks at Digital Trends in English, along with journalist Joe Maring, were able to see some of this trend.
Samsung’s new concept foldable device unveiled is called the In&Out Flip, and here are some first impressions from Maring.
- At first glance, In&Out Flip is very similar to Samsung Galaxy Z flip 5. It features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display that can be folded into a small pocket square. You will notice that there is no protective screen on the outside of the In&Out Flip. Instead, it’s just a piece of glass.
- The great thing about the In&Out Flip is that it not only folds in on itself, but also unfolds outward. This means you don’t need a special screen protector. If you want to manage your notifications, apps, and more without opening the full 6.7-inch screen, you can fold the phone outward and turn the main screen into a clamshell screen.

- Is this the most practical design for a foldable phone? There are many reasons to think not. The main problem is that the folding screen is completely exposed when folded outward, making it vulnerable to all types of damage. From a purely practical point of view, this doesn’t make much sense.
- But the In&Out Flip isn’t the only foldable smartphone concept I’ve seen. The other one, with a very strange name, is Flip Liple. No, that’s not a typo. According to Samsung, “Liple is a new design concept that combines the words ‘light’ and ‘simple’.” “It aims to reduce the price of the product and provide a simple user experience similar to the existing Flip.”
- The Flip Liple also has a 6.7-inch screen that folds just like the current Galaxy Z Flip. However, part of the screen covers the top bezel, allowing you to look at the top of the phone to see the time, notifications, weather, and other information.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 will almost certainly not support this technology. But there’s a chance that the Flip 7, Flip 8 or Flip 9 will.
