Golfer and billionaire Tiger Woods has announced the end of his partnership with Nike. He lasted 27 years. Thanks to the contract, the athlete earned more than 460 million dollars.

“27 years ago I was lucky to be part of one of the most famous brands. The time since then has been filled with incredible moments and wonderful memories that I could spend forever recounting,” Woods wrote on Facebook*.

The golfer expressed special thanks to the company’s co-founder and CEO, Phil Knight, for creating and working on the Nike Golf project.

Woods concluded his statement by announcing the beginning of a “new chapter” in his life.

A response message appeared on Nike’s official Instagram account*. The company expresses its deep gratitude to the golfer for the years of cooperation.

“They have challenged competition, stereotypes, conventions and old ways of thinking. He has challenged the entire institution of golf. You have challenged us. And most importantly, you challenged yourself. And we are grateful to them for this challenge,” the company said in a statement.

Tiger Woods collaborated with the sports brand in 1996. He has won 15 major titles. Only Jack Nicklaus has more wins (18) in history.

According to Forbes, Tiger Woods has become the third billionaire athlete in the world. Before this, only basketball players Michael Jordan and LeBron James earned more than $1.
