Apple had a busy week of announcements. With the adoption of the European Union Digital Markets Act, many things in its ecosystem will have to change. However, the company continues to improve its integrated applications. One of them, Podcasts, will receive a very interesting update with the release of iOS 17.4.
In this sense, the Apple Podcasts listening app will integrate automatic transcription of content without the need for the creators to do anything. Apple has confirmed that transcripts will be generated automatically by the app itself. So once they start playing, they will appear in podcasts in English, French, German and Spanish. This feature, although currently limited to these languages, will be available in more than 170 countries.
It’s an interesting AI content creation experience similar to other features of the system that are gradually coming out with various updates. However, this is not a major change in the advanced features that Apple offers in its system. Functionality, which, by the way, It is expected to be greatly improved in iOS with the release of iOS 18.the first system in which Apple makes deeper use of artificial intelligence.

Additionally, this new podcast feature will work in the same way as song lyrics in terms of added value to the user: It will make it much easier to find and navigate to the podcast you want.. Likewise, transcripts can be searched for specific words and phrases and will include a reading form that will highlight the exact text that is currently being played.
Another interesting point to keep in mind, especially for creators, is that while the system generates transcripts automatically, podcasters can upload their own transcripts. They can also you can download and edit Apple’s automatic transcription and download it again if there are any errors in it or you want to add something specific.
The Podcast Transcriptions feature will be available to all users in March, presumably with and alongside iOS 17.4. many features will be included sideloading for the purpose of the entry into force of European rules.
