There are a total of five different iPhones that will stop receiving updates this 2022.

After the arrival of iOS 16, Apple shared the official list of iPhones compatible with the new operating system. Then, We already know which iPhone models will stop being updated in 2022.and there are several models.

We have officially Five iPhone models that won’t get iOS 16therefore, they will stop updating the same 2022 when Apple stops releasing iOS 15 updates. Officially, these iPhone models will stop getting support this year:

  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6sPlus
  • iPhone SE (1st generation)
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus

These five iPhone models will remain on iOS 15, which means will stop receiving software updates after summer. At this point, the iPhone 6s will have received 7 years of support, the original iPhone SE 6.5 years and the iPhone 7s 6 years.

How long will these iPhones receive updates?

Initially, these iPhone models will be updated by September 2022. A few weeks before the release of iOS 16, Apple will release the final iOS 15 update that these five iPhone models will receive. Then, These iPhones will stop receiving support in late August or early September.

However, we must take one thing into account. Apple recently released security updates for older iPhonesNot so long ago, we saw an iOS 12 update for older iPhones. For this reason, it should not be ignored that Apple will release an iOS 15 update in the future, which will fix some security issues for the remaining five iPhone models in this update.
