The first of these, exclusive to the 2.1 update of the store, is a torrent client for iPhone that offers P2P downloading. iTorrent supports torrent files and displays downloads in a list format, each with access to detailed information such as download and upload speed, time remaining, progress and more.
Although iTorrent opts for a minimalist interface, qBitControl leans towards the traditional torrent client design. The application developed by Mikhail-128 allows add files or magnet links. Users can view download progress, perform verification, manage content, or view real-time statistics, all from the native iOS interface.
AltStore noted that they carefully checked the applications, make sure they meet safety standards. To install them, you just need to add a link from the section Add source inside the AltStore PAL store.
It is worth noting that these apps are only available in Europe. The Digital Marketplace Act has allowed stores like AltStore PAL to offer apps outside the App Store. Users on the other side of the Atlantic will still have to rely on iSH Shell, an app with a Linux-like shell, supports magnet links through commands.
Why are there no torrent apps on iOS?
Torrent downloading apps are not allowed in the App Store. Apple maintains strict control over the apps that can be distributed through its store. It is generally accepted that Torrent clients violate App Store rules because they may violate copyright.
Another reason is related to file system limitations. Unlike Android or macOS, iOS has a stricter system. The average user does not have direct access to files, which is an important feature of torrent clients. Apple claims that these restrictions protect people from security threats.
There are applications for downloading torrents one of the most popular categories among iOS and iPadOS users. The only alternative to bypass Apple’s policy is to jailbreak, move to Europe, or learn how to use iSH Shell. On the other hand, there will always be the option to download a movie, TV series, or game and send it to your device wirelessly or via the cloud.
