The Sonos app soap opera isn’t over. After a new version’s failures and several broken promises, the company is considering relaunching the old app to reduce user complaints. Finally, they won’t. This was confirmed by Patrick Spence, CEO of Sonos, during a Reddit Q&A, who claims that re-releasing the previous version will only make things worse.

“The trick, of course, is that Sonos is not just a mobile app, it’s also software that runs on the speakers and in the cloud,” Spence says in a Reddit response. The Sonos CEO goes on to say that since the launch of the new app They updated the software that runs on the speakers themselves and in the cloud.. This makes Sonos S2, the company’s previous app, “less reliable and less stable” than users may remember.

“After extensive testing, we have reluctantly come to the conclusion that re-releasing S2 will make the problems worse, not better“I’m sure it’s disappointing. It was for me,” Spence concludes.

We reiterate that Spence considered releasing an older version of its app to allow users to use its products normally while fixing the new app. Something that would also quell – at least temporarily – user criticism of the new platform’s disaster.

Sonos app problems don’t end

The Sonos app problems began on May 7, the day the company launched its app alongside its first headphones. Since then, users have complained that the application did not work correctlywith numerous bugs and missing features that were available in previous versions. Spence was quick to publicly apologize and confirmed that the lack of features available in other previous versions was due to other issues in the app that delayed its launch.

“We developed the new app to improve the service, to be able to innovate more in the future and to be aware that it will improve over time,” Spin said. “However, since launching We encountered a number of problemsFixing these issues delayed our previous plan to quickly add missing features and functionality.”

Since then, Sonos CEO has assured that the company’s top priority is fixing the app. They’ve even delayed several product launches to focus on their platform.
