How to upgrade to macOS Sequoia

  • Tiling window improvements make it easier to organize windows by dragging them to the edge of the screen to place them side by side or in the corners of your desktop.
  • Keyboard and menu shortcuts can be used to place windows in tiled positions more quickly.

Safari

  • Distraction control helps you hide elements on a web page that might distract you from browsing.
  • It summarizes the important information on the website you visit, highlights it with locations and more.
  • The new Reader Mode gives you even more ways to enjoy articles with a simplified view of the article you’re reading, a summary, and a table of contents for longer articles.
  • The viewer lets you watch videos without distraction and automatically moves videos to Picture-in-Picture when you leave the page.

  • The Passwords app makes it even easier to access your passwords, passcodes, Wi-Fi passwords, and verification codes by letting you see all your credentials for websites and apps in one place.
  • Verification codes can be set directly in Passwords, so you can easily copy or autofill them in Safari without even having to open the app.
  • Secure sync ensures that your accounts saved in Passwords are seamlessly synced to iCloud with end-to-end encryption, so you can access them from your other devices.
  • Windows support via the iCloud Passwords app so you can access your passwords on Windows devices.

Messages

  • Text effects bring your conversations to life by visually enhancing any letter, word, emoticon, or emoji in iMessage with dynamic, animated effects like explosions, ripples, and head shakes.
  • Text formatting lets you add bold, underline, italics, and strikethrough to any letter, word, or phrase in iMessage.
  • Emoji and Sticker Tapbacks let you react to a message using any emoji or sticker, and give you access to your and your friends’ top Tapbacks with just one swipe.
  • Send Later lets you create a message now and schedule it to be sent later.

Notes

  • Audio recordings can be started directly from within a note and maintained along with comments, checklists, and related documentation.
  • Live transcripts appear as you record audio, and transcripts are fully searchable so you can always find what you need.
  • Math in Notes lets you enter expressions into your note so they can be solved instantly
  • Collapsible sections help you simplify and hide text in long notes; simply click next to the section title to lighten text-heavy notes.
  • Highlight text in your note with five color options that make your text stand out.

Photos

  • Collections automatically organizes your library by helpful topics like Days, Trips, People & Pets, and Featured Photos in the sidebar.
  • Groups in People & Pets contain photos of your favorite people or pets who appear together frequently.
  • Video Speed ​​Control lets you slow down high frame rate video content with in and out points.
  • Utilities include additional useful collections such as documents, receipts, and more, as well as items you’ve recently edited, viewed, and shared.
  • The Recovered Album in Utilities shows images that were on your device but were not previously visible due to database corruption in a locked album.

Other features and improvements

  • Updated basic and scientific calculators in the Calculator app can now solve expressions, convert units, and access a history of previous calculations.
  • Calendar reminders allow you to create, view, edit, and complete reminders along with your meetings and appointments.
  • The recently deleted list in Reminders lets you view and recover deleted reminders.
  • Scenes in Freeform allow you to organize your content into sections, then save, tag, and order them however you want.
