Anker is one of the biggest brands in the portable battery industry. Unfortunately, the company was forced to recall three of its products from the market. According to the company, the lithium-ion batteries in these devices “may overheat, which may cause plastic components to melt, smoke, and catch fire.”
The Anker 334 MagGo (PowerCore 10K) battery, Anker Power Bank, and Anker MagGo Power Bank are all compatible with smartphones, including the best models on the market.
If you have one of these products, it does not necessarily mean there is a problem. The recall only applies to products manufactured between January 3, 2024 and September 17, 2024.
To find out if your battery is included in the recall, visit the dedicated page on the Anker website and enter the product serial number. If your device is affected, you will see recall information on the page.
You can check the model of your Anker Power Bank by looking at the bottom and confirming that it says: Anker 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K)/Anker Power Bank/Anker MagGo Power Bank, models: A1642/A1647/A1652.
As Anker explains, the 16-digit serial number is located on the bottom of the battery. If the serial number is not 16 digits, it means your product is normal and not subject to recall.
If your product is affected, stop using it immediately and store it in a safe place. When disposing of it, do not throw it in the trash or regular recycling bin. Instead, take it to a facility that accepts lithium batteries.
Again, you can visit Anker’s website to learn more about this review.
