Samsung has finally confirmed the One UI 7 release date, but don’t worry just yet

However, it’s not all good news. Those who want to try out One UI 7 on compatible phones will have to be patient and wait a few more months. This is because Samsung has indicated that the first beta will reach developers. “before the end of the year”.

This means that in the worst case scenario, the first development version of One UI 7 and Android 15 could debut in December next year. The Asian firm has not yet announced a specific date for the debut of the stable version of the software, but it is clear that everything is planned to be produced only in 2025.

Thus, the public will have no choice but to continue to wait. On the one hand, it’s good that Samsung is setting a target time frame for the One UI 7 beta; But it’s also true that the company promised the software would be available much sooner and didn’t deliver on its part.

An interesting fact that comes out of Samsung’s announcement is that a few weeks ago the company itself said that it had no plans to give a talk about One UI 7 at its developer conference. However, it is likely that public reaction influenced the decision to change.

Samsung first revealed One UI 7 to SDC 2024 attendees, but didn’t reveal much else. As published on the website, the demo focuses on GUI design changes and the integration of Galaxy AI, a suite of artificial intelligence tools, into everyday activities.

First beta version of One UI 7 was supposed to come out in Julybut this did not happen. In August, Samsung said it would delay the Android 15 update indefinitely, although many were excited that it would finally be available in testing starting in September. Which, by the way, didn’t happen either.

The focus now turns to the coming months. While Samsung hasn’t given a specific date for the beta, the fact that it has confirmed that it will be in the hands of developers before the end of the year is a big achievement. Of course, users’ patience will be tested again if the deadlines are not met again.

Among the many improvements coming to One UI 7 are new widgets and animations, as well as changes to the lock screen, notification panel and camera app interface. And at least 40 models of smartphones and tablets have already been confirmed that will switch to software based on Android 15.
