Nike Training Club

Nike has a long history of combining smart technology and fitness. It was one of the first major training brands to gain a foothold in the mobile phone and smartwatch markets. So it makes sense that the first app on the list is its flagship: Nike Training Club.

The Nike app offers a series of short, guided workouts so you can train at your own pace. Plus, it pairs easily with Apple Watch, adding another layer of functionality if you’re using an iPhone.

Like most services these days, you won’t be surprised to learn that the Nike Training Club app offers paid premium content, such as training programs with a selection of videos led by professional trainers, but the free version is also reliable.

From yoga and bodyweight exercises to tips on weight lifting and muscle toning, the Nike Training Club app offers a comprehensive dictionary of home workouts and run tracking features with smart integration built into it all.

Just yoga

Simply Yoga comes with excellent instructional videos of varying lengths to help you master all the basic yoga poses, making them easy to do at home, although you’ll likely need a yoga mat and towel.

It’s a fairly simple app that’s good enough for a good workout, although as expected, the free version is ad-supported. If you need a little more functionality and are willing to pay for it, check out our guide to yoga apps.

Adidas Runtastic

Adidas Runtastic is a personal trainer for runners. Track all sorts of running metrics, including distance covered, pace per mile, and, if you’re wearing a smartwatch that tracks your heart rate, how many calories you’ve burned.

Like many other training apps today, the Adidas Runtastic app brings a social aspect to competitive leaderboards and the ability to create groups of runners.

If you have a WearOS watch, you can put your phone down and the watch will track your progress and sync with the app. This app is free and contains ads, but offers the usual option to pay a small monthly fee to remove them.

7 minute workout

The explanation is in its name. The 7 Minute Workout offers a simple list of short workouts you can do whenever you want (or when you feel bad about eating pizza).

Each exercise comes with a video tutorial to help you get started. The app is fully voice-activated, allowing you to keep your eye on the prize rather than the timer on your phone.

We’ve highlighted the Android version in the screenshots above, and since this app isn’t available for iOS, we’ve included a great iOS alternative below.
