Mexico City Metro has enabled contactless payment at its 115 stations, so you can pay for your ride not only with the built-in mobility card, but also with bank cards, smartwatches and mobile phones. In this tutorial we will tell you how to pay for the CDMX metro using your mobile phone.

Now open the Wallet app and add your bank card. This could be a credit or debit card.
To do this, select the option Add to portfoliothen select payment card, New credit or debit card and fill in all fields, including card number, expiration date, security code and billing address.
It is important to enter your physical card details as digital cards generally do not work with Wallet apps. And don’t worry, contactless payment technology is much safer than swiping your card through a terminal, so use this type of payment with complete confidence.
After entering your card details, the Wallet app will contact your bank to authorize registration. This process usually takes a few minutes.
Once this process is complete, you will be able to pay for your Mexico City subway fare by holding your mobile phone to any of the payment terminals.
If you can’t register your card with your chosen Wallet app, check your bank’s app. Banorte, for example, offers the ability to link your accounts to Google Pay from its app.
Additionally, some credit cards are not compatible with Google Wallet. In my case, I tried the Invex card but was unable to register it with Wallet.
How to pay for CDMX Metro using iPhone
To pay for CDMX Metro using your iPhone, you need to add a credit or debit card to the Apple Wallet app, which must be pre-installed on your mobile phone. If for some reason you don’t have it, you can download Apple Wallet from the App Store.
Now, to add a credit or debit card, simply open the app and press the button. Add and select Credit or debit card.

You will see a screen showing cards from different issuers, click Continue and move your mobile phone closer to the map. Cards compatible with contactless payment technology have a Wi-Fi-style wave logo.
If your card is compatible, Apple Wallet will automatically record the data, but you’ll need to enter the cardholder’s name as well as the card’s security code.
