IN Hypertext We’re lucky to have received the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra this morning and can tell you all about it. Well, while we were studying its settings, we encountered an unexpected novelty. Samsung copied Apple’s battery health percentage. Yes, we mean the data that indicates the general state of this component and how its degradation progresses over time.

This is quite a memorable milestone. And since Apple implemented this on the iPhone, It has become a source of obsession for millions of users around the world.. This is an interesting fact that has some value, but also constantly reminds you that your device is getting worse.

On Android, without this data, users have no way of knowing how their degradation is progressing, which, as we say, Has its good and bad sides. The point is that Samsung joins the fight for battery healthand the Galaxy S25 are the first devices in the catalog to integrate it.

At the moment, we don’t know if this is a feature of One UI 7 (the Galaxy S25 already has this update) or these specific phones. What we do know is that now available and users who purchase this new series will be able to check the status of their battery.

This is how the Galaxy S25 shows battery health

New information is in the ‘Battery information‘, which you can access from the Settings app. Here you will find various data, both new and previously shown. The key and novelty lie in two additions:

  • Battery cycle counter. This data delivers what it promises: a counter that shows how many times the battery has completed a cycle. Be careful, it doesn’t reflect the number of times you’ve charged it, but rather number of times the component changed from 100 to 0. If you have 30% and you charge the device to 80%, then it does not add up to a full cycle, but accumulates half a cycle (50%).
  • Battery status. This is what is called “Battery Health” on iPhone and its purpose is to tell you What level of degradation does the component have?. When you buy it, it is always 100% and decreases as you use it. Reflects the maximum battery capacityso if you have a 5000 mAh battery with a battery level of 80%, that means it really works as if the cell phone had a 4000 mAh capacity.

Samsung was one of the first to include this percentage in the Android ecosystem. although it won’t be the only one. Google has prepared Android 15 so that this data will start showing up on devices natively, and more manufacturers are expected to reflect this in their settings throughout 2025.
