Apple fans tested their ideas once again!

A lot has been said about Apple’s possible foldable iPhone in recent years, but for now they’re not sure if it’s something they’re really considering launching from Cupertino. But as has been shown in the past, when Apple fans want a product, they can get ahead of the company and do it themselves.

Thus, and as they shared on YouTube from the Chinese tech channel “Scientific and Technological Aesthetics”, two engineers tasked with creating the first folding iPhone known. They got to work with a plan and tools, though not entirely from scratch. The final result was achieved thanks to the conversion of an iPhone 13 Pro.

The first folding iPhone is a fact

The video in question The iPhone 13’s hardware interposed with a hinge from Motorola RAZR For example, thanks to the “small” screen fold that other foldables like the Galaxy Z Flip don’t offer. While at first glance the result is a bendable iPhone, it lacks all the wireless charging and MagSafe components, as well as a speaker.

Similarly, a small custom battery was built with a capacity of only 1000mAh, which is a quarter of most iPhones.

Of course, it was not an easy process. In the broadcast they emphasize that result cost 200 days trial and error, until we create a folding iPhone that will preserve as many parts as possible of the original devices hitherto known. As part of the design criteria, it needed to be soft enough to bend while maintaining touch functionality.

As we mentioned earlier, this isn’t the first time a user has gotten ahead of Apple. This 2023, two users managed to include USB type C ports in iPhone. Some have even been able to double their battery capacity through engineering. However, this folding device seems beyond the possibilities and It would be hard to imagine that a regular OLED panel could withstand this type of use without breaking.

While it’s exciting to see such a prototype after years of rumors, analysts say Apple’s An “iPhone Fold” with a flexible OLED display, only in 2024.
