The European Parliament approved the arrival of the USA a few weeks ago. “Universal charger for mobile” that will force iPhone to change Lightning to USB-C. It’s a law that Apple doesn’t like but they will have to abide by.
Until now, we knew that this law would become official in 2024, but we did not know the exact date. However, the new law was formally signed and published and It will enter into force on 27 December 2022, meaning companies will have until 28 December 2024 (2 years) fulfill the mandate.

USB-C will come to iPhone without Apple hassle
Although it is an official period, Apple is expected to introduce iPhone with USB-C before this date. Everything seems to indicate that all iPhone 15 models will have USB-C connectivity, so Apple will be more than a year ahead of the date set by Europe.
Apple would have its USB-C iPhone ready without European demand, which makes a lot of sense. Apple has been selling its iPhones for several years nowThere’s still the iPhone 12 in the Apple Store, and we don’t know exactly how this regulation affects previously released products. Therefore, it is better to introduce USB-C as soon as possible.
iPhone will have to stop using Lightning in favor of USB-C in Europe
Note that this regulation also affects other Apple products and accessories, such as: AirPods and keyboards, mice and trackpads All these devices must also use USB-C before the deadline set by Europe. In other words, this marks the end of the Lightning connector.
Apple already uses USB-C in all its current iPads and all MacBooks, Lightning is still only used on iPhones and some accessories. But in just one year, everything can change. this The arrival of USB-C on iPhone is imminent and iPhone 14 will be final with Lightning.
