During MWC 2023, HMD Global, in addition to the new inexpensive models C22 and C32, Nokia G22 focused on repairability. One of the highlights of the smartphone with a suggested price of 120 Euros (approximately R$ 650). Battery replacement in 5 minutes and without losing the manufacturer’s warranty.

The Nokia G22 proposal is to last longer in the hands of the consumer, because in addition to repairability, the company aims to bring a sustainable smartphone to market. For example, in terms of software, HMD guarantees the mobile phone. three years of monthly security updates and two operating system (OS) upgrades.

However, the new device has Android 12, unlike Android 13 installed on the Nokia C32. As such, it will be updated to Android 14, which has recently entered beta for developers. Also, the model is compatible with 4G mobile networks, not 5G.

According to the company, this is because it took a little longer to develop “due to the new internal hardware structure that focuses mainly on repairability.”

To replace the battery on the Nokia G22, the user has to remove the back cover made of 100% recycled plastic with special tools. However, the path to the component was shortened, which made the replacement faster. Using official parts, the brand assures that the warranty will not be voided if the repair is done “at home”..

The innovation was developed in partnership with iFixit, which has a long history in the electronics repairability market. In addition to the battery, device allows easy replacement of screen and charging port.

Three-day battery and modest hardware

Another Nokia G22 differential that warrants HMD, battery that lasts up to three days and that it must reach 800 load cycles until it reaches 80% of component capacity.

In the technical sheet, there is a 6.52-inch screen with HD + resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. On the back, in addition to the 8 MP front camera, there are three camera sensors:

The capacity of the battery itself 5,050 mAh with 20W fast charging support (USB-C). The chipset is a Unisoc T606 with 64GB or 128GB storage accompanied by 4GB or 6GB of RAM. It also has Memory Expansion function which allocates up to 2GB more RAM.

Other prominent features of the Nokia G22 are the fingerprint reader on the side and IP52 waterproof certification. There are still no estimates for the launch of the smartphone in Brazil.
