SOS emergency via satellite reaches more countries, Spain will have to keep waiting

Apple is expanding the feature that allows users to quickly and easily seek help and alert emergency contacts!

SOS Emergency reaches more countries in Europe

One of the great innovations announced with the launch of the iPhone 14 was the possibility to connect via satellite to send emergency messages when we don’t have coverage. It has been available in the United States and Canada since its launch, and Apple has announced that it will add new countries as time goes on.

Bite apple ones kept their word and announced this week that the feature that has saved the lives of many users will be available later this month in Austria, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Portugal.

SOS Emergency continues to expand

Thanks to this update, users of all models in the iPhone 14 series can communicate with emergency services even without mobile coverage or Wi-Fi, thanks to “a combination of specially designed components and deeply integrated software.”

From the end of the month, the list of countries with the service will include: United States, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Portugal. Since it is a new service that many users still do not have the option to know how it works, Apple shared a video on its YouTube channel explaining its benefits.

The video, which has a dramatic setting, tries to touch the most emotional fibers of man, the fibers of survival and his most heroic acts. They’ve already done the same for all the lives the Apple Watch has saved with its multiple exercise and health functions, and now they’re bragging about their iPhone 14 saving lives too, as you can see below:

Apple also guaranteed that for the first two years, Emergency SOS via Satellite will be free for its customers. Therefore, it should not be ignored that in the future Apple will begin to charge for the service.

Despite its geographically limited availability, the power of the Emergency SOS function is undeniable. Therefore, other companies are already considering how to bring it to their devices. According to a recent report, Samsung is developing a chip with satellite communications capabilities that will have photo and video transmission for more than just emergency use.
