This week Vivo launched its latest foldable mobiles – Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip. Those who follow mobile news may have noticed that the names are similar to Samsung’s foldable Galaxy Z series, but the similarities don’t end there. They also have a very similar design and the same folding style.

The devices target the premium segment by offering cameras with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processors and Zeiss certified lenses.

Vivo X Fold 2

Vivo X Fold 2 is the next generation X Fold with vertical axis folding. That is, when closed, the mobile phone has a very similar design to the traditional one and takes on a more square shape when the user opens it to reveal the inner screen.

The device has an 8.03″ foldable OLED display with a frequency of 120Hz and a brightness of up to 1,800 nits. The outer screen is also OLED with the same frequency, but 6.53” in size. It has Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the battery offers a capacity of 4,800mAh with fast charging up to 120W in cable and 50W by induction.

In terms of cameras, we have 50MP main, 12MP ultra-wide and 12MP telephoto. The selfie camera is 16MP. The recommended price of the Vivo X Fold 2 starts at 8,999 yuan (R$6,560) for the version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Vivo X Flip

The Vivo X Flip is Vivo’s first product in a format that folds only in a horizontal axis like older mobile phones. On the outside, it comes with a small 3-inch display, which is slightly larger than the 2-inch display offered by the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Vivo X Flip completes the series to compete with Samsung.

Inside, the foldable OLED screen is 6.74” and has a frequency of up to 120HZ. The front camera is more powerful than the X Fold 2 and offers resolution up to 32 MP. The rear camera also has 50MP, accompanied by 12MP ultra-wide. With the help of the external display, the main camera can also be used for selfies.

The X Flip comes with the same processor as the X Fold 2, with a 4,400mAh battery and 44W fast charging, without the wireless charging option. The model was launched with a suggested price of 5,999 yuan (R$4,370) in a version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Vivo reports that there are no official sales estimates of any model outside of China at this time.
