The Spanish government has announced some improvements and changes to MOVEMENT III plan, an assistance system for purchasing an electric car. Through a Royal Decree approved by the Council of Ministers, at the request of the Ministry of Environmental Transformation and Population Affairs (MITECO), three important changes have been made.
First, and most importantly, you can now ask for help buying used electric vehicles. But on one condition: they should not be more than a year old.
It’s not perfect, but it opens the door for many people who want to change their car to electric but can’t afford to buy a new one. When used, the price is much more affordable.
More MOVES III Plan Modifications
The second modification is the tripling of demo cars that can be sold by the dealer. It used to be 30, now it’s 90. In addition, the age of the vehicle has been increased from a maximum of nine months to twelve.
Finally, the number of vehicles that one owner can request in each Autonomous Community has been increased fivefold. It increases from 50 to 250, which contributes to the renewal of the fleet.
The MOVES III plan has been allocated 1,200 million euros, of which 876 million have already been transferred to the Autonomous Communities. The purpose of these modifications, according to the ministry itself, is to give an additional boost to the electrification of the Spanish car fleet, helping to bring more affordable cars to the market.
The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Population Affairs explained that all these modifications were approved thanks to the recommendations of the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Working Group (Gtirve), which consists of various industry associations and the administration itself.
