The South Korean manufacturer has already shown what its upcoming sensor is capable of, in anticipation of Samsung’s first smartphones with 200 MP cameras. The development team printed a 200 MP photo of a cat on a 28-by-22-foot advertising banner and pasted it on a building.

This was a nice challenge for Samsung engineers: the sensor currently only works with a test board and is also used to take a picture of a moving object. A special adapter has also been made to accommodate DSLR lenses, but this will not be used for the final image.

Due to its gigantic 616-square-metre size, the photo had to be printed on 12 2.33-metre pieces of cloth, which were then stitched together and fixed to a building using a crane. According to the Sensor Solutions team, this poster should demonstrate the benefits of the 200 MP camera, including zooming without loss of quality.

It is claimed that Motorola will release its first smartphone with this technology in the corridors. Meanwhile, the company has hinted that it will make a statement in July this year.
