What is it and how does the Yubo app linked to the Texas tragedy work?

An 18-year-old man shot and killed 19 children and 2 adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. And, according to police, the killer used an app called Yubo to send messages to several people before the massacre.

The app does not allow users to follow other users or like content posted on it, unlike other social platforms such as Instagram or TikTok. Instead, users can add themselves as friends.

In a December 2020 interview with YouTube channel Startup Vision TV, Yubo co-founder and CEO Sasha Lazimi stated that the company “one of the leaders in real-time moderation“by quoting him”very strict rules“.

The app does not require users to provide their last name or email address. Users must be over 13 years of age to access the app. In addition, teens between the ages of 13 and 17 must obtain parental permission before registering.
