Surely, if you have paid little attention to roads in recent years, the number of motorhomes you have seen far exceeds what you used to see a long time ago. If before you saw one, now there are three. And that’s because you haven’t been camping (although these models don’t go there).
Rising prices, the coronavirus, the rehabilitation of the rural world… all this has made thousands of Spaniards dare to buy a motorhome and thus travel around our country and half of Europe aboard a motorhome, with all its advantages (and disadvantages).
But can you drive a motorhome with a driving license? If you are thinking about changing the way you travel, you should know that the only license you need to drive a motorhome is a type B car license.
However, he has a big but: The B license will only be valid if the weight of the motorhome does not exceed 3500 kg plus 9 seats. Similarly, no other license is required if the weight of the trailer does not exceed 750 kg. If not, then you need to issue a B96 card or a B + E card.
The DGT will be the body responsible for evaluating your ability to drive this type of vehicle. through an exam that consists only of a theoretical part.
In it, you need to test your skills as a motorhome driver without taking a theory exam, as we do in map B, for example. In this case, you need to run two different practice tests in different scenarios.
The closed exam consists of: testing by parking a car in line, and then leaving the occupied place. You will have to do this using first and second gear.
And after passing this test, you have to unhook the trailer from the motorhome and park the car right next to it. Finally, the ability to circulate is tested when you have to drive a motorhome for a long time.with obstacles and maneuvers.
