While Apple’s first MacBooks with M2 soc are not yet available, rumors are already swirling about the more powerful Pro variant. For example, analyst Jeff Pu from International Tech Research reports that TSMC will begin mass production of the M2 Pro, which will be baked at 3nm this year.

The M2 Pro is expected to offer a comparatively bigger performance boost than its smaller sibling. Where both the M1 line and M2 use TSMC’s 5nm process, the M2 Pro will feature the more advanced 3nm process. Additionally, this chip will offer up to eight powerful cores and four efficient cores, compared to eight and two cores, respectively, in the case of the M1 Pro. The M2 Pro (J474) is expected, among other things, in a new Mac mini.

The M2 is baked with the ‘second generation 5nm process’.

Also, Pu talked about the long-awaited mixed reality headset from the American manufacturer. The market researcher expects the device to be announced after the 2023 Chinese New Year (end of January), followed by mass production in February.
