facebook prepares for a major restructuring process to keep pace with other more popular apps – including Instagram, also from Meta, and bitter rival TikTok This is claimed by The Verge magazine, after it got hold of some internal documents of the American company.

Facebook is working on one of the most important and profound changes in its history. We speak of a redesign complete with homepage and feed, with the aim of: change the algorithm which controls the content that appears on the wall. The target? Prioritize content created by people and content creators, which will be actively promoted by the algorithm. Basically, the model is that of TikTok: a feed that continuously pumps content, fishing between influencers and pages that the user does not follow, but that they may like based on their activity on the social network.

In this way, Facebook hopes to skyrocket the number of hours users spend on the social network every day. In the words of the same company, Facebook should have a “Discovery Engine‘, a social network that not only passively displays the content of pages the user already liked, but actively suggests new ones.

This means that posts published by friends, as well as pages that have already been followed, will become less visible. That’s not necessarily a bad thing for content creators: just like with TikTok, organic growth should become easier and faster.
