Google has recently made many updates to its Chrome browser, in its iOS version and Google announced (as explained by TechCrunch) will have some new features coming soon. First of all, we have the function: Google Advanced Secure Browsing This is a security-focused feature that proactively warns the end user about dangerous websites you are about to visit. Advanced Safe Browsing has been available on Android and desktop for months and has finally arrived for iPhone users.
It all works by sending real-time data to Google Safe Browsing for check for malware, phishing and other threats that lurk in the dark corners of the internet, so you will be alerted if you come across a dangerous website. Speaking of security, Chrome for iOS also has another handy feature: alerts for compromised credentials. The iOS password service will warn you in this case, but it never hurts to get two warnings if you have a compromised password.
The third handy feature coming to Chrome for iOS is called “Chrome actions“. This is a quality of life feature that allows you to easily perform certain tasks without struggling in the settings menu. To use Actions, just type in the Chrome address bar what you need, e.g. “Clear browsing data” or “Browse -open tab in disguise” and even “Set Chrome as default browser”.
Further, Chrome can also predict when action is needed, so no need to search all the time as suggested. The desktop version has had this feature since 2020 and Android users got it in April 2022. The home screen now includes more than just recent tabs, giving you access to your feed. Other minor changes include the ability to manage camera and microphone permissions for specific sites and the ability to download and add files iCalendar to your calendar.
