Ejaculation is good. We did not detect a wildfire in this statement. Advantages orgasm, or ejaculation in people with penises, is widely known. When you orgasm, a beneficial hormonal cocktail is released that relieves pain and reduces stress. It also improves mood and may even help combat insomnia. But it has also been observed that in case of ejaculation it may be prostate cancer prevention factor. It is often said that number of ejaculations important in this regard. Many people note that the ideal amount is $21 per month. But what is this data based on?
This figure comes from a study published in 2004 by scientists from Harvard University. In that, They followed more than 29,000 men for 8 years.to conclude that a number of ejaculations per month equal to or greater than 21 significantly reduces the risk of prostate cancer. However, the figure is only indicative. This does not mean that someone who ejaculates 20 times a month will have no protection.
In fact, soon after other scientists, this time from Cancer Council Victoria, Australia, conducted a similar study with different numbers. The number of ejaculations was calculated not per month, but per week, but even extrapolation of the amount will not be the same.
Studies on the number of ejaculations
There are mainly three studies that analyze the importance of the number of ejaculations in preventing prostate cancer. Two of them were conducted at Harvard University with the participation of men from the United States, and one was conducted in Australia.
They began their research at Harvard University in 1992. It was attended by 29,342 men aged from from 46 to 81 years. They were given an initial survey about the number of ejaculations per month they typically have, including nocturnal emission, sex with other people and masturbation. They had to answer the same survey every two years, until the year 2000. At the same time, a statistical analysis was carried out, which was later published in 2004.
This analysis shows that compared to those who ejaculate 4 to 7 times per month, a number of ejaculations equal to or greater than 21 gives 31% less likely to develop prostate cancer.
This study was later extended until 2010. The results were published in 2016 and the findings were very similar. That is why it was accepted that the healthiest number of ejaculations was 21. However, this is still the number at which the threshold level was set. One can simply conclude that the more ejaculations the better.
In fact, an Australian study published in 2003, even before the Harvard study, discussed different numbers. It involved 2,338 men who were asked about the number of ejaculations they experienced per week. It was observed that those who had between 4.6 and 7 ejaculations per week had 36% lower risk of prostate cancer than those who had only 2.3 ejaculations per week. 4.6 to 7 ejaculations per week is the same as 18.4 to 28 per month. Obviously there is 21, but it is not the golden number.
What’s all this for?
The reasons why the number of ejaculations may be beneficial against prostate cancer are not clear. There are some hypotheses. For example, it may happen that due to more frequent ejaculation it will be more difficult intraluminal crystalloids of the prostate. These are structures that are very common in glands in which tumors develop. Therefore, it is possible that ejaculation plays a protective role.
Ejaculation may also affect function epithelial cells of the peripheral zone of the prostate. This may reduce cellular oxidation in this area, as this process is closely linked to cancer. It may even be simple psychological relaxation which promotes orgasm, helps prevent the formation of tumors.

However, these studies seem to indicate that the number of ejaculations has a protective role, especially in young people. Although cancer is more common after age 70, ejaculating in youth protects against skin cancer in adults, like sunscreen does in childhood.
These studies have a big limitation: many of their participants started at an advanced age, so when they were asked about the number of ejaculations in their youth, they had to look back and make only rough estimates. Regardless, the fact that all the research points in the same direction seems to be reason enough to start ejaculating. The bigger, the better. After all, no one needs you.
