Today, Friday, Toyota said in a statement that it has released safety call for 2,700 bZ4X SUVs in the USA, Europe, Canada and Japan. It’s like Groundhog Day, only the scandal isn’t Tesla in the lead role.

Cause? A spokesman told the BBC that the bZ4X wheel bolts may loosen to such an extent that the wheel may come off the vehicle“After very few kilometers covered.

The recall came less than two months after the car’s launch in Japan. Automaker Subaru also says it will recall 2,600 electric vehicles it developed with Toyota for the same reason.

No one should drive these vehicles until repairs are done.“, – the company explains. This is logical, since losing the wheels in motion is really dangerous.

To the BBC’s knowledge, some bZ4X models have not been recalled. However, a spokesman for Toyota declined to comment on how many of these vehicles the company had produced.

Another Japanese automaker, Subaru, also said it was recalling 2,600 units of the Solterra, its first all-electric vehicle developed jointly with Toyota., due to problems with loose screws. The company did not immediately respond to a BBC request for comment.

Toyota is considered a relatively late player in the EV market compared to rival manufacturers such as Tesla, which launched its first EV 14 years ago.
