About two weeks ago, The National Archives has released 30 unpublished documents containing reports from Brazilian pilots who claimed to have seen UFOs on different occasions. This number is small compared to the more than 800 records of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) that are freely available to interested parties. According to the FAB, the documents present reports that occurred between 1952 and 2023.

In the 2023 incident, a pilot flying over Navegantes recorded an observation at 3am of a ‘ball’ ranging in size from large to small and moving ten times faster than a commercial airliner. “The surprise came from the fact that the objects’ lights/movements did not correspond to a satellite, space debris or any other known event,” the pilot said.

In 2012, a TAM pilot traveling from Belém to Brasília was required to perform a maneuver with the aircraft to avoid a possible collision with an unknown object.

Perhaps the most impressive report among the new troves of documents unearthed by the National Archives came in 2007. At the time, a TAM pilot flying between Manaus and Belém reported reported that it was making an evasive maneuver to avoid a bright object, which was also observed by the flight crew. Even after this, the light continued to follow the plane heading towards Belém airport and so the pilot began to think that it could be a space station.

Some ufologists consider Brazil to be one of the countries that publishes the most official documents on ufological mysteries. For example, the ‘Night of the UFOs’ is a real episode in 1986 in which five FAB jets chased several UFOs.

“Wow, boy, I got goosebumps. You know what I mean there, control? Lows. That’s why you lost. There’s two high ones right here on the runway line and there’s two or three more down there right now,” one of the pilots said.

There is also the classic Operation Prato, carried out in Pará in the 1970s, where many residents and military personnel saw the shiny ships attacking the population.

Latest UFO sightings

Engineer and ufologist Rony Vernet states that Brazil continues to receive visits from UFOs; In fact, these mysterious objects appear frequently in the north of Brazil. In recent months, numerous reports of sightings have emerged in rural areas of the region. In July, Vernet even published footage of UFOs in the forest of the Yawanawa tribe.

And these sightings aren’t just recorded in Brazil: people living in the Amazon region, Peru and Colombia have also reported seeing lights in the sky. Moreover, a more controversial case occurred in Peru in 2023, where residents claimed to have been persecuted by extraterrestrial beings.

“The collection on UFOs is produced by the Brazilian Air Force Command and is under the supervision of the National Archives. [mais de 800] The records include “reports of objects seen in the skies over Brazil over the years, surveys of events, correspondence, photographs, drawings, videos, audio recordings and newspaper and magazine clippings,” the National Archives said.
