He Xiaomi’s first SUVknown as SU8has not yet been officially announced, but its design has already been spotted several times thanks to leaked images. And although they do not reveal much detail, we are gradually learning some news about what the Asian company’s second electric car will be.
The latter comes to us thanks to some new images taken from the SU8 prototype that cruised the streets of China.. Even though it has a distinctive camouflage that prevents anyone from seeing the body, it is inevitable to see how the car has inherited the sporty design of Xiaomi’s SU7, but of course with larger dimensions.
One of these leaked images shows a large front with various sensors. Another shows an open door, showing that SU8 will come with frameless door. You can also see the color: a slightly brighter red than the shade Tesla uses in its cars. The remaining images also show the locations of the various sensors. The car even has some sort of radar on the roof, which in the final version could be similar to the radar that Xiaomi includes in the SU7.

This will be Xiaomi’s first SUV.
Apart from images that have been leaked thanks to users who see the vehicle driving, we repeat, there are hardly any details known about what the brand’s second electric car will be. All indications are that, despite its design, the SU9 will retain the same system that the company includes in the current model. That is, it will appear in two versions. one with motor 220 kWand another, more powerful one, with two motors with a total power of 495 kW.
In any case, despite the similar configuration, the Xiaomi SU8 is expected to be slightly more expensive than the first model. According to various estimates, the car may appear in 2025 and will be affordable which would be around 27,000 and 32,000 euros. Xiaomi will, of course, also be working on a more fuel-efficient car that will allow it to compete with Tesla and its Model 3.
