The electric motor that Rolls-Royce prepared is perfect for a flying car

And this is where a number of companies are currently planning low-emission hybrid eVTOLs, and Rolls-Royce has gone one step further by developing a turbo generator specifically designed to increase range in a compact and efficient manner.

Most of the benefits of battery-powered VTOL aircraft will remain; the powertrains will remain all-electric and still carry battery packs, so they can be just as quiet during takeoff and landing.

Shorter missions can also be run emission-free without even turning on the generator. In fact, even flying towards its maximum autonomy, andThese hybrid eVTOLs should be able to significantly reduce emissions compared to traditional aircraft.

Rolls-Royce plans to service a wide range of aircraft, offers its new turbogenerator with power from 500 to 1200 kW.

The company is developing its own power distribution systems, so power from these generators can be used to charge batteries or directly power electric motors, as the case may be.

In this way, it is possible not only to increase the range, but also the maximum power of the entire drive system.allowing the aircraft to be instantly upgraded to carry heavier payloads if needed.

Rolls-Royce announced its own hybrid-electric VTOL design back in 2018, promising a range of around 805 km. although at this stage the concept does not appear to have progressed much further.
