With the launch of weekend trading, customers will be able to manage their liquidity more flexibly, which is important in case of unexpected expenses. For example, they will be able to sell shares quickly and withdraw money from the card even during the weekend.
According to Aisha Kubezova, director of electronic markets at Sberbank, one of the main risks is low liquidity over the weekend. This can lead to increased volatility in quotes.
To support trading on such days, brokers use internal market makers who, for various reasons, are interested in providing liquidity. However, if it falls sharply, a situation similar to a storm on the stock exchange can arise: the glass becomes empty, added Konstantin Molchanov, head of the project support and development department of the Finam financial group.
Experts doubt that the new option will generate significant revenues, but the broker’s competitive advantages also lie in the variety of services available. Its expansion could attract new customers, they stress.
